Stress Affects Lifestyle
Stress will affect your lifestyle. When the demands on you become
too great your body cannot keep up with its own operation let alone any new
challenges. Your lifestyle is altered to avoid further stress and further damage
to your body, often without you being aware.
There are three main responses you will go through as you alter
your lifesyle because of stress. These are all reactionary and you automatically
choose one or a combination of each of these:
- Fight -- Fight is a reaction of defense. We use this when the challenge of stress is
moderate and we instinctively believe we can handle it.
-
Flight -- Flight is a response to a more challeging stress. We can't
quite handle the stress and believe it is our best interest to flee it.
-
Fright -- Fright is an utter breakdown in our response. We can't fight
and we can't flight. We are frozen in response to stress of any kind. This is a
breakdown in our daily life. We cannot function under normal situations.
Each of these three responses may be appropriate for the
circumstances in one's life and they will change a lifestyle.
One problem is the continued response to the stress. Is the
response appropriate?
The other problem is the stress. Can the stress be changed or
removed?
Lifestyle can be altered by stress. Stress is like a raging river
that carves out our behavior and effects our lifestyle. Some change is for the
good and some change is for the bad.
